Efectividad de la comunicación mediante tecnologías de la información con familiares de pacientes en unidades de cuidados intensivos

La hospitalización de pacientes críticamente enfermos en unidades de cuidados intensivos genera alteraciones emocionales en los familiares, especialmente cuando existen restricciones de visita y dificultades de interacción con el equipo sanitario. En este contexto, las estrategias de comunicación digital se han utilizado como herramientas para mantener el vínculo familiar, favorecer la continuidad informativa y fortalecer la experiencia asistencial. El objetivo de esta revisión sistemática fue analizar la evidencia científica disponible sobre la efectividad de la comunicación digital en la satisfacción familiar de pacientes críticamente enfermos hospitalizados en unidades de cuidados intensivos. La búsqueda bibliográfica se realizó en PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO y CINAHL, considerando publicaciones entre 2015 y 2025. Se incluyeron 17 estudios primarios cuantitativos, cualitativos y mixtos relacionados con comunicación digital, comunicación remota, videollamadas, visitas virtuales y experiencia familiar en cuidados intensivos. La calidad metodológica fue evaluada mediante las herramientas críticas del Joanna Briggs Institute. Los hallazgos sugieren efectos favorables en la satisfacción familiar, el apoyo emocional, la reducción de ansiedad y la percepción de humanización del cuidado. No obstante, se identificaron limitaciones asociadas con barreras tecnológicas, alfabetización digital, conectividad y ausencia de protocolos institucionales. Se concluye que la comunicación digital constituye una estrategia potencialmente favorable para fortalecer la satisfacción familiar en unidades de cuidados intensivos, siempre que se implemente con recursos adecuados, capacitación profesional y lineamientos éticos orientados al cuidado humanizado.
