Stages and Timeline of the Review Process
- Manuscript Submission
Upon submission, authors receive an automatic notification and a unique reference number to track the editorial process.
- Initial Editorial Evaluation
The Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor conducts a preliminary review to confirm:
- Suitability of the manuscript for the journal’s scope and focus.
- Compliance with editorial and formatting guidelines.
- Originality and relevance of the content.
This stage typically lasts 7 to 15 days. Authors are notified promptly if the manuscript is rejected at this stage.
- Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial evaluation are sent to external reviewers under a double-anonymity protocol.
The estimated timeline for this phase, including issuance of the first editorial decision, is 20 to 45 days.
- Decision and Request for Revisions
If revisions are required, authors receive full reports from reviewers and editors and must submit a revised version within 15 days, accompanied by a detailed response document addressing each comment.
- Additional Review Rounds
In cases of substantial discrepancies between reports, the Editor may request a third external reviewer.
If a second round of review is necessary, the same reviewers will typically evaluate the revised manuscript.
- Final Decision
The responsible editor makes the final acceptance or rejection decision, based on a comprehensive assessment of reviewer reports.
- Publication
Accepted manuscripts proceed to copyediting, typesetting, and publication, typically within 10 to 20 days after final acceptance.
At this stage, the DOI is assigned, and the articles are submitted to the relevant registration and indexing systems.
