Peer review process

Peer Review Process in Sage Sphere International Journal (SSIJ) Sage Sphere International Journal (SSIJ), published by Sapiens Ediciones, is a multidisciplinary open access scientific journal that applies a rigorous peer review process. This mechanism aims to guarantee the originality, quality and academic impact of the articles. The double-blind review model ensures an objective and unbiased evaluation, in line with the journal's high editorial standards. Phase 1: Initial Editorial Evaluation The first stage of the process consists of a preliminary review by the editorial team. Within a maximum period of 72 hours, authors receive a notification of receipt and a manuscript reference number. In this instance, the Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor analyzes whether the text fits the objectives of the journal, its level of originality, academic relevance and potential contribution to knowledge.

A manuscript may be rejected at this stage if it does not meet the established criteria, presents structural flaws, unclear results, or evidence of plagiarism. In doubtful cases, the Editorial Committee may be consulted for further review. Only texts that pass this assessment move on to the peer review stage. Phase 2: Peer Review (Double-Blind) Advancing manuscripts are sent to specialists for detailed evaluation under the double-blind review model, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. The evaluators use a form that examines aspects such as: Relevance and academic impact of the study. Clarity and coherence in the wording. Theoretical rigor and argumentative solidity. Updating and relevance of bibliographic sources. Methodological consistency and validity of the research design. Depth of analysis. Originality and value of conclusions.

Reviewers have up to 30 days to complete their evaluation. If revisions are requested, authors will have between 8 and 15 days to submit the revised version, depending on the extent of the required changes.

Phase 3: Editorial Quality Review

Once the peer review is completed, the manuscript enters the editorial quality control stage. During this phase, grammar, spelling, and adherence to the journal’s formatting guidelines are reviewed. Additionally, the content is assessed for alignment with the journal’s editorial goals and policies.

It is important to note that successfully completing this phase does not guarantee immediate acceptance, as the final decision depends on factors such as editorial scheduling, thematic priorities, and the potential impact of the work.

Duration of the Editorial Process

The entire editorial process at SSIJ typically takes between 8 and 12 weeks, including the initial review, peer review, editorial quality control, and final decision. This timeline may vary depending on the complexity of the manuscript and the availability of reviewers.

Roles and Confidentiality in the Review Process

Academic Editor: The Academic Editor oversees the entire evaluation process, ensuring the quality of the reviews. If a reviewer exceeds the maximum 8-day period to issue their report, authors will be informed of the status of their submission.

Reviewer Confidentiality: Reviewer identities remain strictly confidential throughout the evaluation process unless they choose to disclose their identity voluntarily.

Number of Reviewers: Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two subject matter experts, although additional reviewers may be assigned if deemed necessary by the editor.

Final Editorial Decision

Upon completion of the review process, the Academic Editor issues a final decision based on the peer review reports and their own technical assessment. The decision is communicated to the authors through the editorial system and via email. The possible outcomes are:

  • Accepted without changes: The article is approved for publication in its original form.

  • Minor revisions: Small adjustments are needed before final acceptance.

  • Major revisions: Significant changes are required before reevaluation.

  • Rejected: The article does not meet the journal’s standards.

This meticulous process ensures that all publications in Sage Sphere International Journal (SSIJ) uphold high scientific and academic standards, reinforcing the journal's commitment to editorial excellence and the global dissemination of impactful knowledge.
