Abstract

This article aims to critically analyze the phenomenon of entrepreneurship in the canton of San Francisco de Milagro, Ecuador, based on a bibliographic review of twelve academic studies published between 2015 and 2025, selected for their thematic relevance, methodological rigor, and territorial focus. Using a qualitative and interpretive approach, a structured documentary analysis was conducted to organize the findings around five key dimensions: entrepreneurial motivation, informality, social capital, the role of academia, and innovation. The results reveal that while entrepreneurial activity in Milagro is high, it is mostly driven by necessity, marked by informality, weak business planning, and limited institutional articulation. Nevertheless, the literature also highlights emerging initiatives based on community cooperation and university engagement that suggest a potential path toward sustainability and inclusive territorial development. The study concludes that entrepreneurship in Milagro must be approached as a contextual and socially embedded process, shaped by structural conditions, yet capable of transformation through the articulation of educational institutions, local actors, and public policies.
