Abstract

Safety culture is a fundamental component of occupational risk prevention and the promotion of safe behaviours in manufacturing organisations. The objective of this study was to propose a strategic model for strengthening safety culture and contributing to the safe behaviour of workers in a manufacturing company. A mixed-methods, descriptive, analytical, and applied study was conducted using a non-experimental, cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 130 workers, from whom a sample of 97 participants was selected. Data were collected through a structured survey, complemented by documentary review and direct observation. The results revealed differences among the dimensions assessed: personal responsibility obtained the highest mean score (3.8), followed by control items (3.5), system-practice consistency (3.2), reporting culture (3.1), risk perception (2.8), and safety leadership (2.6). The findings revealed a gap between workers’ individual commitment to prevention and their perceived organisational support, particularly regarding leadership and preventive management. Based on the diagnosis, a strategic model was formulated integrating the assessment of safety perceptions, training through gamification strategies, and the active involvement of senior management. It is concluded that strengthening safety culture requires the articulation of individual responsibility with leadership, preventive training, worker participation, and institutional commitment to promote sustainable safe behaviours
