Abstract

The study analyzed morphofunctional alterations associated with academic stress, sleep habits, diet, and body composition in first-year medical students at PUCE Amazonas during the academic period October 2025 – March 2026. The objective was to determine the relationship between these factors and their impact on students' overall health. A quantitative approach was used with a non-experimental, observational, descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 72 students who completed structured and validated surveys to assess stress, sleep, and dietary habits, along with anthropometric measurements to determine body composition. The main results showed high levels of academic stress, primarily related to academic workload, as well as sleep deprivation, frequent consumption of ultra-processed foods, and changes in body weight, especially weight gain during periods of higher stress. It was concluded that academic stress was significantly associated with alterations in sleep, diet, and body composition, becoming a determining factor in the development of morphofunctional alterations that affect students' physical and emotional well-being.
